LP investing is the new angel investing.

Operator LPs

We're a collective of value-add LPs backing top emerging funds.

Like founders, GPs want experienced operators on their bench as LPs. If that's you, join us and become an LP with as little as $5K.

Our second demo day is on June 2.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does this work?
It’s simple!

  • 3 GPs present for ~5 mins over Zoom to an audience of operator LPs
  • Q&A is opened up to the audience of LPs
  • Afterward LPs receive a recording of the presentations and fund details
  • Interested LPs can submit interest to invest via a short survey
  • GPs follow up directly with interested LPs

Do I have to be accredited to attend GP Demo Day?
Yes. This is a legal requirement. More details about accreditation here.

When is the next GP demo day?
Our second GP Demo Day is on June 2 at 1pm ET (5pm UTC).

Oh no! I can’t attend the next GP demo day. Can I still invest?
We highly recommend attending demo day if you can. You’ll have a chance to see GPs pitch live, ask them questions and experience the energy of the event.

That said, if you cannot make it to the live event, you will still have have an opportunity to invest. All invited LPs will receive a recording of the presentations, materials that were shared, and opportunity to submit a request to invest in each fund.

Who is behind Operator LPs and the GP Demo Day? What’s in it for them?
This project was started by Weekend Fund. We’re an early-stage, collaborative fund run by Ryan Hoover and Vedika Jain.

In 2021 we raised our latest fund from over 350 operator LPs to build a network of backers to help with deal flow, diligence, and portfolio support. It’s one of the best decisions we’ve made and we’d like to help other GPs do so too.

We aren’t charging anyone to attend and we don’t earn carry from the funds presenting. Our goal is to connect exceptional GPs with “value-add” LPs, and support this growing ecosystem of small funds and operator/founder LPs.

Why are you doing this now?
Many GPs, especially first-time managers, spend months and sometimes years raising. It’s an inefficient process, made worse by a lack of transparency and urgency in the traditional LP community.

Now is better than any other time to solve this problem with:

  • The rise of the solo GPs and small funds.
  • The rise of more operator/founder LPs entering the market, mirroring a similar trend we’ve seen over the last decade in angel investing.

How do you choose which LPs to invite?
While each fund is unique, GPs are generally looking for LPs that are:

  • Connected and able to help with deal flow
  • Able to help with diligence relevant to their domain expertise
  • Eager to support GPs and their portfolio founders with “asks” relevant to their skillset

How do you choose which GPs present?
Our criteria and selection process may change but today we’re focused on GPs that have a strong track record as an investor (including angel investing), manage a small fund (sub-$30M), and have at least $1M remaining in their fund for additional LPs.

Which GPs are going to be presenting at demo day?
While we can talk about demo day publicly, we can’t legally share the names of GPs presenting unless they’re a 506(c) fund (many aren’t).

We’ll share names of the GPs presenting privately with LPs invited to attend demo day, before the event.

I’m a GP and would love to present. How can I?
If you’re interested in participating in a future demo day, let us know.

If I’m interested in investing in a GP, do they have to accept my investment?
No. GPs ultimately decide who they bring on as LPs.You will be given an opportunity to complete a very short survey expressing your interest and motivations for investing. These answers will be shared with the GP so they can directly follow up.

I’ve applied to attend GP Demo Day. When can I expect to hear back?
We’re reviewing applications on a rolling basis and will invite everyone by May 30, three days before the event.

Does Weekend Fund recommend LPs invest in the GPs who present?
We’re not financial advisors and cannot make investment recommendations. Do your own research. :)
